How’s your stairlift knowledge?
Stairlift knowledge and facts – Here are some funny and interesting facts about stairlifts that you may find interesting:
- The first recorded use of a stairlift dates back to the Tudor days. King Henry VIII was well known for his weight issues and after receiving a serious injury during a jousting match, his servants were struggling to take the overweight King up and down the stairs. A form of stairlift was created to help his servants as they couldn’t carry him from strength as he was rather heavy. Weighing in at 30 Stone!
- Stairlifts have starred in many TV programmes. Comedian Peter Kay’s character Brian Potter found one useful in the popular TV show Phoenix Nights. They have also starred in soapland’s Emmerdale and The Paul O Grady chat show.
- The benefits of stairlifts may be well-known by the human community, but they are now even being realised by our four-legged friend as people have started installing dog and cat stairlifts. The world’s first dog stairlift was recently unveiled as ‘Stair of the Dog 2022’ costing his owner £5,000! It had a ‘paw push’ start button and the dog climbs into a plastic bucket which rises from the floor and takes the upstairs!
